Swim Meet 101
Swimmers:
- Arrive at meets at least 15 minutes before warm up starts to stretch and get ready to get in the water.
- Our Team Suit color is "Sporti Light Wave" from SwimOutlet or a plain navy blue suit.
- Swimmers should have suit, goggles, and towels.
- Bring a water bottle, healthy snacks, and sunscreen.
- Keep track of the order of events and when your event is coming up.
- Be at the heating area before each event.
- Be respectful of the pool, deck, other team, coaches, and parents.
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship with your words and actions.
- Come talk with the coach before and after each event.
- Come ready to race and have fun!
Parents:
- Help your child find where they are supposed to be. The coach will not always be able to bring every child to the correct heat and lane. The meet list with event numbers for each swimmer will be sent out beforehand. The swimmers are responsible for getting to their event and heat on time.
- Bring collapsible chairs, water, towels, and snacks for your swimmer.
- Be respectful of the pool, deck, other team, coaches, and parents.
Heat Sheets and more:
- Heat sheets list all the swimmers, which event they are swimming, and which heat and lane.
- Some swimmers write these summaries on their arm or leg with a marker to reference throughout the meet.
- Notations to summarize meet events can be listed as:
- Event # / description (25 m free)
- Heat # (which set of swimmers they will be a part of)
- Lane # (which lane in their specific heat)
